El proyecto Lo Natural comienza a partir de una serie de preguntas: ¿qué significa ser natural?, ¿dónde se encuentra el límite entre lo natural y lo artificial?, ¿existe realmente una separación entre ambos?, ¿somos seres artificiales por naturaleza? El solo hace referencia a la gran influencia de las nuevas tecnologías en nuestro comportamiento, a la vez que constata el auge de la obsesión por conectarnos con la naturaleza, la new age, la búsqueda de “esencias”, los rituales esotéricos y demás intentos espirituales que concurren en una extraña celebración de la esquizofrenia humana. El retorno a una naturaleza desprovista de tecnología es un intento, no exento de melancolía, que busca crear yuxtaposiciones, paradojas y conexiones aparentemente antagónicas. En este recorrido, donde el ordenador sigue ayudando a la intérprete, lo orgánico se confunde con lo sintético y lo representativo con lo indiscernible.

The project emerges from an interest in artificial nature, in those places inside and outside of us, which have been modified but seem to be spontaneous. The project wonders what does the expression “to be more natural means”. Where does the artificial end and where does the natural begin? Supposing it is possible to return to a natural essence, what does the so-called expression “connect with nature” mean?

The work is a reference as well to some of the latest obsessions into esoteric practices and emphasizes the paradox between the will to return to a so called  “primordial ”sate and the vertiginous advance and influence of technological development. The attempt to return to a natural state devoid of manipulations, is a naive venture, but the project wills to expose those contradictions and proposes seemingly antagonist connections, celebrating the hybrid between the machine and the human, the confusion of the organic with the synthetic and the mix of a representative form with an amorphic one. All theses notions and longings get contaminated.

Lo Natural premiered at  Antic Teatre in Barcelona on June  2012. After its premier, the work has been selected for the exhibition at Guinardó Stripart on June 2012, wins The Audience Award at CRIM Festival in October 2012 and it is presented at Escena Poblenou Festival. On November 2012 was part of the Panoramix program in La Caldera, Barcelona and on in December 2012 was presented at the Korzo Theatre in The Hague, The Netherlands. On 2013 it has been presnted at Festival ALT in Vigo and Festival Respirations in Paris. Trough this project, Amaranta Velarde was nominated for the New Talents Award by APDC (Catalan Professional Dance Association)
